Bricklaying
Junior Bricklaying
The same wall, the same judges — the stage for apprentices and college learners.
Overview
Junior Bricklaying gives apprentices and college learners the same stage, the same wall and the same judging standards as the pros. It is the fastest route into the Super Trowel pathway and a showcase for the next generation of the trade.
Format and entry
Format
Same timed format as Pro on a scaled brief, with judges on hand throughout. Bricks laid are counted, deductions applied, and scoring bricks decide the placings.
Who can enter
Apprentices and learners in bricklaying training, typically aged 16–24, entering through a college, training provider or employer.
Pathway
Regional heats feed the Junior Final, run alongside the Pro Final on the same stage.
Rules and judging
Rules
• Scoring bricks = bricks laid − deductions. • Deductions are applied by the judges for any brick outside tolerance. • The 15% deduction disqualification rule does not apply to Junior. • Judges' decisions are final.
Judging and scoring
Judged to the same tolerances as Pro, with quality recorded as a percentage and placings decided on scoring bricks.
