How Super Trowel works
From application to the Grand Final — and exactly how scores are worked out.
The season, step by step
1. Apply
Applications open for each competition ahead of the season. You send your details, we confirm your place by email.
2. Compete at a regional
Regional events run to a set time limit and a published task. Every competitor works to the same brief and the same materials.
3. Get judged
Judges count the work laid, apply deductions for faults, and record quality. Scoring bricks are the bricks laid minus deductions.
4. Chase the Grand Final
Results feed the season rankings. The strongest performances across the season earn a place at the Grand Final.
Scoring
Scoring bricks = bricks laid − deductions
Judges record the bricks laid within the time limit, then apply deductions for faults such as plumb, level, gauge, joint finish and perpends. Where a competition is judged on quality, a quality percentage is recorded alongside the count. Some competitions are judged on time instead — the fastest completed run wins.
Placements are published per event and per category. Rankings then compare published results across the season so competitors can track personal bests.
